Freedom Music Services was established in the Valley Mills/Waco area by retired band director, Charlie Stevenson. After many years of teaching, Charlie noticed every year there were students that wanted to play be in band, but couldn't afford an instrument.

Initially, he would find older used instruments that still had some potential life in them and would recondition and restore the instruments making them affordable for students and parents at a fraction of the cost of a new instrument.

In 2013, Freedom Music Services was created to serve all band students, parents, musicians and band directors in their musical endeavors and give them the freedom to choose a quality instrument to meet their needs.

Charlie's primary instrument is percussion, however, he plays most all wind instruments too. He's played 50+ years and taught in public school and college for 30 years. Charlie and his wife, Ellie, have four-legged furry kids at home:  Sparky, (Australian Shepherd mix), Tucker (lab mix), cats Rocky & RC, and a foster dog named Ranger. Charlie has two grown children, Mike and Faith. Mike and his wife, Kerri, have a son, Branan. Faith is in the U.S. Navy, and is newly married to Tim.

Charlie believes that God gave us free will to make decisions for our lives, but you really don't experience true freedom until you let God guide and direct your life. One of his favorite Bible verses that guided him in teaching for years and still does is Proverbs 16:3 "Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts will be established."
